Comprehensive Speech & Language Evaluation

A comprehensive evaluation is the first step toward understanding your child's communication strengths and areas of need. It combines standardized assessments, clinical observations, caregiver interviews, and recommendations to develop a treatment plan tailored specifically to your child.

Areas that may be assessed include:
  • Motor speech skills

  • Receptive and expressive language

  • Social communication

  • Oral motor function

  • Orofacial myofunctional skills

  • Feeding skills

  • Augmentative & Alternative Communication (AAC), when appropriate

Therapy Services

Following the evaluation, therapy is thoughtfully planned around your child's communication goals, learning style, and developmental needs. I draw from a variety of treatment approaches to create engaging sessions that help children build communication skills, confidence, and independence.

Areas of Therapy Include:
  • Helping children improve speech clarity and confidence through treatment for articulation disorders, phonological disorders, Childhood Apraxia of Speech (CAS), motor speech disorders, dysarthria, and residual speech sound errors.

  • Supporting children's understanding and use of language by targeting receptive language, expressive language, vocabulary, grammar, following directions, narrative language, social communication, and early literacy skills.

  • Improving the coordination and function of the lips, tongue, jaw, and facial muscles to support healthy breathing, chewing, swallowing, speech, and oral development. Treatment may address mouth breathing, tongue thrust, low tongue resting posture, swallowing patterns, oral habits, chewing skills, and speech difficulties related to oral muscle function.

  • Developing the oral motor skills needed for successful feeding, chewing, drinking, and swallowing while promoting healthy oral function throughout development. As a Certified Lactation Counselor (CLC), I also have specialized knowledge in infant feeding and oral function.

  • Play-based therapy designed for infants and toddlers during the critical early years of communication development. Sessions emphasize meaningful interactions while coaching caregivers to encourage language and learning throughout everyday routines.

  • AAC helps children express themselves more effectively using communication boards, speech-generating devices, and other tools while supporting overall language development. Therapy includes device selection, parent education, and collaboration with schools and other providers.

Collaborative Support Services

Successful therapy extends beyond the therapy room. I believe children make the greatest progress when families, educators, and healthcare professionals work together. Collaborative services are designed to help children carry over their communication skills across everyday environments.

  • Parents and caregivers are an essential part of every child's progress. I provide education, practical home strategies, and ongoing support to help families confidently encourage communication during everyday routines.
